The title of this article got your attention, didn't it. That's good because you might not have read it otherwise, for what you're about to read is one of the few subjects that both the old republicans and democrats agree on, and it's only because they are old fashioned and their brains aren't accustomed to fast stimuli and keeping up with rapid advancing media.
That's right folks, we're talking about video games, not those educational ones, but the bloody violent ones that so many of us Americans and technology savvy individuals rely on every day for quality entertainment after work, school, or in between study breaks. Games are specially here in the desert where you need quality indoor entertainment in the summer so you don't look like a fried chicken. Ok, on to the point of the story.
As humans, we need violent entertainment. Biologically, we are no different than we were 2000 years ago when the Romans filled up coliseums with Gladiators, lions, tigers and bears (well, I'm not sure about the bears). They used to make these individuals fight to the death in front of an audience of tens of thousands of people.
Biologically, we are no different than we were 2000 years ago when the Aztecs slaughtered, oops I mean sacrificed thousands of people in the name of their god(s).
As disturbing as you may find this, we are no different today than we were 200 thousand years ago... period. Which means we are just as blood thirsty now as we were then, which explains are desire to watch old war movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and movies about baby butt plugging daddies on Life Time (couldn't leave the women out).
Forget about the fact that we in general like to see the good guys win, and justice be served. What we really want to see is the blood and guts that lead up to it, because we as a species are sick, deranged individuals that won't be happy with out our daily dose of violence.
Ok, ok by now you are planning on flaming me and are probably in denial about your own blood thirst. But we as gamers know that what I say is true, and we admit to our deficiencies as a species and succumb to it's demand. We feed it video games. And you know what? Per capita, less gamers are violent individuals than the rest of the society as a whole, but the politicians don't want you to know that. They don't want you to know that, because they want to score brownie points with the religious right. That's right, there are more sick twisted serial killers that are born out of poverty, bad parenting, pre-birth crack addictions than Violent video games ever produced.
How do I know this you ask? Look at the news, when was the last time a gamer went berserk and started killing all kinds of people. Does Columbine ring a bell? Where the sadistic kid that planned the attack was on Prozak, Lithium and who knows what other mental drugs his parents put him on because the doctors told them that he needed it because he might have gotten out of hand once or twice before. That's right, it wasn't even DOOM that caused that one, it was all those damn meds that he was taking that needs to take the blame for that one... all the meds that put much profit in many doctors hands.
So....
Game on soldiers and go get your fix.

| I think this is why alot of young people don't vote. The politicians could care less if teens (teen gamers specifically) vote or not because the politicians don't understand the gaming culture. As time goes on both political parties will find themselves running out of religious people to try and persuade, forcing them to turn to other sources of voters. I'm not saying this is going to happen in the next 10 years, but as gaming becomes higher qaulity and more intricate there will be a LOT more gamers out there than religious fanatics. So the politicians will have to rethink their strategies to incorporate the gaming population.

| Hell, eventually the politicians WILL be gamers. And don't forget, there are plenty of religious gamers out there. Although most of them probably have their own viewpoints on religion and higher powers.
