It looks like London stepped up today and stopped another potential 9/11 doing a great job keeping us safe. People here always say homeland security is a joke and they don't feel safe. This story will quietly go away like the countless other attacks that have been stopped here and other parts of the country. We would rather talk about Jenna Jameson or Brad and Angolina. Who is going to win the next American Idol and argue with each other about our parites and what a dumb s*** George Bush is. If three quarters of the world would get on board we could wipe this thing out and not take it anymore. So sad just us, London, Italy a few others see the big picture. When I say us I mean about half of us. I don't have to wait for the responses from most of you, here you go. "Hey Tony the London deal was caused by us being in Iraq, all the terrorist are there because of us". Our stupid president is doing it for oil, don't you see that how dumb are you". Hey Tony you just don't get it. They hate Tony Blair and Bush for what they stand for. If we wouldn't of went to Iraq none of this would of happened, both of them won't work with the UN, pull your head out. Here is the bottom line, these people hate our way of life and want to kill all of us. Put your politics aside and maybe one day you will get it. I really believe it's going to come down to kill or be killed. You people keep up the good fight and focus on sitting down on 24th street with the lesbos in pink shirts, start your hunger fast and for God's sake make sure you keep supporting Cindy Shehan. Keep focusing on booting out Joe Lieberman, and by all means keep bitchin about George Bush oh and keep arguing about taxes. In the meantime people are trying to kill you and me, because they don't care if we are left and right. Hopefully you will get it one day.
Keeping us Safe

| Well then we're both very predictable, aren't we. And I didn't say Jenna wasn't a hoe -- she gets paid to screw. But she is a fine example of a Republican entrepreneur.

| "They hate Tony Blair and Bush for what they stand for," ... Hey Tonyd, they also hate us for occupying their land with Haliburton in tow sucking up the oil. They know what GW and cronies are after. As for another one of your comments; "Put your politics aside and maybe one day you will get it"... that goes for BOTH sides. |

| tonyd, The plotters were caught through a law enforcement action. No villages, towns or cities were bombed to foil the plot. No innocent civilians died to foil the plot. From the reports I have seen, the perpetrators were British citizens. I haven't heard many Americans, not to mention Democrats, say that the Afghanistan invasion wasn't necessary. There are times were our military might needs to be used. Iraq wasn't one of them. I think Sheehan is over top, much like mAnn Coulter. I agree that Americans in general don't pay enough attention to the real issues, but can name the American idol etc. I think that "they hate us for our freedom" is a pretty simple-minded approach to the problem. But, it is a great sound-bite for the average American who has the attention span and intellectual curiosity of a slug. I get it tonyd. I understand there are some badasses in the world that want to kill us. I just don't believe that blowing up countries that had nothing to do with Al-Queda is the best way to fight the badasses. Can you tell me the percentage of cargo that comes into our ports is inspected? Are our borders secured? How about the 11 Egyptian "students" that were allowed to come into our country for "college" but only 3 actually showed up at the college? (this week). How much of the cargo that is loaded into the belly of a commercial jet is inspected for possible explosives? Oh, yeah, I get it. Do you? |

| Tonyd, You didn't foresee this one in your little tirade... You are absolutely right. Terrorism is spreading just as communism did n the 50's and 60's. And again it has fallen to those Western Powers, Italy, The U.S., The British Empire and a choice others to protect the world from what would otherwise be a cake walk over our ways of life. There are many people in this country who would like to veiw history through the prism of their own lifetime, forgetting that this is a dance as endless as time itself. Good and Evil, those who fight for power and those who fight to defend freedom. It is an awefull thing to wake up and realize that in mirror of our own countries founding there are a steady few who can logically think about the consequences of doing less vs. doing more. As we embarked on this 21st century we all hoped it would be the first without war, that's right, even the conservatives in this country wanted a peacefull world in which to raise our kids. It was not to be, and now we have to make a choice, do we live the next 94 years in a state of fear that the next morning wse will see another attack on U.S. soil or do we go foreward with the belief that defeating an enemy today might by us 90-93 years of reletive peace on Earth. There can be no doubt that after the terrorist networks are destroyed another menace will rear its ugly head, possibly the afore mentioned communism again, who knows for sure, but one will. We have to be always on our toes and ready to act as we are, for the very moment we are not ready to go to war, it will come for us, here, at home. Tonyd, an excellent article my friend, though many obviously prefer to think otherwise, they have that right, thanks in no small part to the work of hundreds of thousands of Americans before them were not so unsure of why they believed what they believed. |

| God I love it when you pontificate AA! What, even conservatives want a peaceful world? I'm so confused. I thought conservatives like you wanted dead babies strewn on our city streets. I going to have to rethink my stereotyping of you guys. First off, Communism is a form of government; terrorism is a tactic. We do not have to fear a world under the oppressive control of terrorism - blowing things up is not an effective way to govern, at least no for long. So I'll repeat myself when I say that terrorism is a criminal tactic, and is best countered by good investigative work and police tactics. In the extreme case where an entire nation overtly harbors and funds terrorists - like Afghanistan - war may be a necessary option. Otherwise it is a rather blunt club to use when precise surgery is needed. When a bee stings me, I have a few choices. I can swat it, I can call the bee police (an exterminator), or I can go over to the hive where all the other bees that didn't sting me live, and bash the hell out of it. The last option is not too wise, and it is what we did in Iraq. The analogy breaks down quickly however. When you kick a beehive, the attack doesn't give birth to 100 new killer bees for each honey bee you kill. When you kick Iraq, apparently that's exactly what happens. |

| tonyd, you sure are right. And this just goes to prove the point that we gotta fight em there, so we don't have to fight em here... oh wait, I guess Bush was wrong about that. Try reading Imperial Hubris, it is at every library. The writer, Michael Scheurer, spent 17 years in the CIA as an analyst on Central Asia and Islamic radicals. That means Afghanistan, Pakistan, and all the former Soviet stans too. He breifed Bush after 9-11, and was dismissed because he didn't understand the importance of attacking Iraq because Al Queda is hiding in Pakistan.

| AA: "Terrorism is spreading just as communism did n the 50's and 60's. And again it has fallen to those Western Powers, Italy, The U.S., The British Empire and a choice others to protect the world from what would otherwise be a cake walk over our ways of life." Let's review here. We fought the Korean War, which didn't end in victory but a partition of the country, and a ceasefire, with a Communist North Korea threatening us today. We fought in Vietnam on the premise of limiting the spread of communism there. 58,000 dead American soldiers and Vietnam fell to the communists. Cuba-Bay of Pigs-not so successful. How is it the conservatives love to say that Reagan won the cold war "without firing a shot" but now believe that the only way to win this war is to kill all the terrorists. Hell, we don't even know who they are! It is said that this is a "new kind of war" so why are we fighting it like it is the old kind of war? We need more human intelligence now than we had during the cold war. We need to re-think our entire strategy. We didn't contain communism through shooting wars. We won't contain the terrorists through shooting wars either. There may be times and places where outright war is necessary, such as Afghanistan (which by the way was completely screwed up). We need to have a variety of approaches, and new and innovative approaches to the problem. |

| Bella I can't even argue with you over the Haliburton deal and occupation of Iraq. Indie I totally agree with you on the borders and cargo issue. Both parties suck on the border. Cargo needs to be taken more serious. These people do hate us not because we are over there. They hate how we treat our ladies, they hate that we drink and our sex attitudes, they hate our religious practice and much more. Don't forget this was going on way before we went everywhere. World Trade Center, USS Cole, US Embassy. We are so divided on this site on how to handle things. You think AA and I want to kill everyone and love war. I come here to this site and vent and realize this is kind of an exercise in futility. About 3 or 4 of us against 3 or 400. It's really not voice of Arizona, it's a group made up of mainly the left. Without AA and I and a few others you would have nothing to argue.
