Senator John McCain, parroting the Bush rhetoric, earned himself boos from his audience of real Americans the other day.
The Senator, addressing several hundred working class Americans at an AFL-CIO's Building and Construction Trades event in Michigan on Tuesday, April 4th, commented that illegal aliens do the jobs Americans don’t want.
His appreciative audience turned decidedly non-appreciative at that point. Murmurs from the crowd turned to booing. "Pay a decent wage!" one audience member shouted.
As the booing grew to a crescendo, McCain said "If you like, I will leave", pivoting briefly from the lectern. He returned to the microphone after the crowd quieted.
McCain then offered anyone there $50.00/hour to come to Yuma Arizona and pick lettuce for the whole season. Several people from the audience shouted “I’ll take it!”, but the Senator has yet to provide application blanks for his offer.
So Project USA has kindly filled the gap. And here is my “resume”, sent along with my application.

To the Honorable Senator John McCain:
As a fellow Arizonan I would like to apply for your lettuce picking position at $50.00/hour.
That is better money than I earned during most of my adult life in the computer field, and certainly better than anything I could hope to earn in this brave new H-1B world riddled with foreign high-tech workers that our leaders are hewing out of the solid American middle class.
This may be my last chance as an American to make a decent living, so please sign me up.
Thank you for your concern for your constituency.

You too can get on the McCain lettuce wagon. Apply today for this work that Americans won’t do.
