The flood of illegal immigrants from across our southern border is unique in the history of immigration to America.

Previous waves of poor immigrants from overseas had to make an irrevocable commitment to America. For them it was not possible to bop back and forth to the old country, however much they may have wanted too.

Illegal border crossers from Mexico, on the other hand, don’t have to leave home to come to America. It’s easier to bop back and forth illegally across the border than to make the commitment to America. Their allegiance is to Mexico and the almighty dollar, not to America.

And, in large enough numbers, they bring home with them. America accommodates them.

Which brings us to all those Mexican flags that eclipsed Old Glory in those demonstrations over the last few days. Which flag do these illegal aliens salute?

not only do they sneak here illegally,then they protest for equal rights and citizenship.They should round the protestors up and have them work for free for 2 years then send their asses home!!!

We agree on the issue of illegal immigration; but which candidate has a plan to prevent them from bopping over the border? They don't speak enough about this issue, if they did I would vote for the candidate who had a straight forward solution that they would put into effect immediately after taking office that would put an end to this.

Did you happen to notice that, while the illegal alien lobby ran amok in LA and across America, everything was quiet on the home front? It seems AZ has gotten serious about roundin 'em and shippin 'em out. A spokesman for the lobby said they did not dare to congregate in the open and draw attention to their cause here in AZ.

Stay out of sight and be quiet - that’s almost as good as cleansing the state of these illegal interlopers and sending dumping them back into Mexico. It is a welcome step in the right direction in any event.

Oh yes indeed, yes indeed MoronInCharge. That is part and parcel of the solution. In fact as you well know from my writings here at VofA that I consider prosecution of the employers of illegal aliens the lynchpin of the solution. Even border security, which is extremely important, is ancillary to that.

Thank you for reminding our readers of that.

Friday's Arizona Republic devoted a couple of inches to this:

"Houston. An illegal immigrant from Mexico was convicted of capital murder Thursday in the 2006 shooting of a police officer during a traffic stop.

"Jurors will now consider whether Juan Leonardo Quintero-Perez, 34, should get the death penalty.

“Officer Rodney Johnson, 40, was shot four times in the head after arresting Quintero-Perez for driving without a license. Records show Quintero-Perez was deported in 1999 after being convicted of indecency with a child, but he slipped back into Texas."

Undocumented workers committing crimes are criminals. Americans with passports committing crimes are criminals. Chinese tourists visiting their grandparents committing crimes are criminals.

There is no extra crime "debt" levied for committing crimes while not documented in the US, like it or not, and advocating for the same is just more of the same-- knee-jerk "lynch-mob" thinking.

NAFTA. CAFTA.

Take away YOUR economic ability and what do you do? I've heard AA say-- 'stay hjome and fix your country'. Oh, nice sentiment. And you eat while doing that...how? I guess it's work fast or starve?

Funny too, here in the US when people want to "fix" their country, they are persecuted as crackpots or crazies-- regardless or partisan affiliation-- and in many cases what is "done" to fix the country gets nothing done. Government leaders regardless of how they come to power are funny about plain 'folks' trying to take government.

So is being jailed what hungry people should do?
Wait for new leadership and sttarve?

Come on, you know the answer and you'd do it too; find a way to get by until there are changes.

I'm over the blame the victim mentality on this.
