Good day all,
For those of you who watch golf, play golf, and enjoy golf i hope the open championship was as enjoyable to you as it was to me. For the first time in some years we were treated to a televised event that actually showcased a number of players both professional and amateur instead of the same old Tiger coverage.
Even better the former world reigning number one took center stage unexpectedly, at 53 years of age. A Shark instead of a Tiger. The fact that i actually saw a tremendous number of players televised making incredible shots in ferocious conditions intrigued me. These displays of skill and ability may not have been shared with the world audience had a certain individual been able to participate.
The talk about golf losing its viewers and it momentum without Tiger is hogwash. The media and a lot of fans have lost touch with the deep pool of talent in professional golf. In fact the same Irishman who won the open last year with Tiger in the field succeeded in repeating the feat. Up to the challenge even after a recent wrist injury. What a performance. Fending off the Shark, the wind and the rest of the field.
Golf fans everywhere were treated to a magical major in a historical place. So to all the Tiger loving fans out there i invite you to get familiar with the rest of the talent in professional golf. Enjoy the time he is away from the game and get back to being a spectator of the game, the whole game not just one part of it.
Open Championship- Great change of pace.

Jul. 22, 2008 at 02:35:01 PM Totally agree so happy about getting away from the Tiger show, don't get me wrong Tiger is still the... View this Comment Hello James, I am glad to see that someone other than me agrees. He is the worlds number one, no doubt. However an opportunity has arrived for the rest of the tour to show why Tiger has to play so well week in and week out to stay at number one. I am looking forward to another great tournament this week at the Canadian Open. Watch out for Mike Weir. He is extremely motivated to take down his countries title. And with the new stack and tilt swing grooved he should prove to be a front runner all week long. Keep it in the short grass. |

| You have to play golf to understand how talented all those guys on the tour are. For those of us that play, we like to watch all the players play because there's a lot to be learned from watching them. Everyone would be in trouble if they tried to mimick Tiger's swing, because quite frankly, unless you're Tiger, you're not going to be able to swing like Tiger. Basically, golf fans are going to watch golf no matter who's playing, hell, I even watch LPGA sometimes. My girlfriend is always giving me a hard time, "how do you watch golf, golf is sooOooOoOo boring". Before I started playing golf, I used to watch golf sometimes because it was peaceful and I could fall asleep to it, now when I watch golf... I'm wide eyed and following the action. So yes, there are other sick degenerates like you out there, and I'm one of them. |

View this Comment Normalized V, How well you know me. Sick Degenerate is right. And to boot i play left handed which only adds to my condition. Ha. I agree with you that a true golf fan is going to watch period. I think it is humorous how every network rating junkie is so concerned about the possible loss of a bunch of bandwagon idiots screaming "get in the hole " with every swing. I swear these people record the events they attend so when they are home nursing their alcohol induced heat stroke they can replay some shots and go hear that moron screaming in the back ground that was me. i was there. So funny. But in all seriousness, that is if a Sick Degenerate south paw golfer can be serious; i am and will continue to enjoy Tiger's hiatus. Oh and did any one notice the diminished amount of Fed Ex cup advertising since he has been rehabbing? These guys are still gonna be battling for the title same as last year. |
