Remember that great TV show M.A.S.H?  One of the characters was Klinger, the crossdresser who dressed in women's clothing to try to get a "Section 8" discharge from the Army.
Section 8 was a discharge from the Army for being mentally unfit for duty.
A classic Klinger:

"Colonel Potter, sir; Corporal Klinger! I'm Section 8 head to toe. I'm wearing a Warner bra, I play with dolls, my last wish is to be buried in my mother's wedding gown. I'm nuts! I should be out!"-

Well, we have a different Section 8 now-a-days.  It is right there in the bail out bill as proposed by Sec of Treasury Paulson and President G. W. Bush.

Section 8 reads:
Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

Got that?  Non-reviewable.  At agency discretion.  May not be reviewed by any court of law or administrative agency.

In other words, you don't need no stinking democracy or oversight. TRUST US say the Bushies.

Per McClatchy news:

The administration's draft law also would preclude court review of steps Paulson might take, something Joshua Rosner, managing director of economic researcher Graham Fisher & Co. in New York, said could be used to mask previous illegal activity.

"The Treasury's ability to, without oversight, determine (that) a financial institution (is) an agent of the government seems like it could be used to serve several purposes, including limiting the potential liabilities of an institution or its executives," he wrote in a note to investors late Sunday.

The Treasury proposal sent to Congress also offers no process to hire asset managers in an open and competitive process. That's particularly questionable given that Wall Street players are now hiring Wall Street players, Rosner said.

"This seems to invite a risk of collusion between sellers and buyers to the detriment of the taxpayer," he wrote.

So, now we have McCain, the "deregulator" running for Bush's third term. And we have Henry Paulson naming himself King Henry (as Robert Riech said tonight on the greatest show on TV-The Rachel Maddow show).

A side note: did you see how many people from the right that Rachel has invited to debate her on her new show and everyone of them refused.  She is now running a tally on her show of all the chickens*** republicans that won't debate her on her show.  She even offered to come in to the studio at any inconvenient hour to meet with the Republicans.

To mix TV Metaphors.......NO SECTION 8 FOR YOU!!!

Contact your Senators and US Congresspeople and tell them this proposal is not acceptable!
