Thoughts on the run up to the next election:
° Israel inexplicably overreacts and launches a major offensive in Lebanon. Analysts struggle to figure out how this is going to work out well for Israel in the long run. While the battle rages, Bush publicly feigns a desire to stop the fighting. Privately he's on the phone to Olmert encouraging him to invade Syria as well. After the cease fire is signed, Hezbollah rushes in to front the reconstruction effort and has demonstrated to the world that Israel is vulnerable. Bush declares, in true 1984 fashion, that the whole thing is a major victory for Israel and the war on terror.
° The London terrorist plot is exposed and our terror alert goes to red for the first time. Long lines at airports and people are scared again. The Bush Administration declares this an intelligence coup and takes credit for the apprehension of these terrorists, even though the U.S. had nothing to do with the British investigation. In fact, it looks like the Brits pulled the trigger too soon - at the urging of the Bush Administration - arresting the suspects in the very early planning stages, and now the Brits are in a sticky wicket just finding something to charge them with. Bloody hell.
° A stunning court defeat for the Bush Administration is handed down, declaring that his unwarranted domestic spying program is not only illegal, but unconstitutional and must stop immediately. The very next day the killer (???) of Jon Benet Ramsey is arrested in Thailand, putting a 10 year old mystery back into the headlines. Authorities in Thailand were watching this guy for three months prior to his arrest. Turns out the guy may just be lying to get attention. But after the announcement of his arrest, his story has dominated the news. On CNN Headline News, 23 minutes per half hour news cycle were devoted to Ramsey; 30 seconds devoted to the FISA court ruling.
° Oil price are on a two month record low, and dropping despite a disrupted pipeline in Alaska, the worsening situation in Iraq, growing tensions in Iran, and a fresh new Middle East war between Israel and Lebanon. Oil prices inexplicably dropped just before the 2004 elections as well.
________________________________________________________________________
We are less than 90 days out from the November elections. The news either scares us sh*tless, trumpets our glorious successes in the "war on terror," tells us how good things are at home, or causes us to look at the shiny watch and not the tricks being performed in front of our faces. Coincidence? Just because I have grave doubts about a coordinated conspiracy from within to orchestrate 9-11, doesn't mean I don't suspect my government of high treason committed on a daily basis.
THE Real CONSPIRACY Theory!!!

| Indie writes: " Add to that the North Koreans "look" like they are getting ready to test a nuke according to some administration officials. Meanwhile, planes are diverted because a lady peed on the floor, and someone wrote a note on barfbag. Meanwhile, Bush's poll numbers have not improved, even with the events MiC outlines, and the Democrats continue to have strong poll numbers nationwide. What will the Rovian's do in the next 90 days? It is a frightening thought." ___________________ I just wanted to put all the relevent comments in one place. |

| And I keep hearing Bush and all his pundants repeating over and over again "We are at War". So, I ask, just who are we at war with? The two governments that we invaded have had "free" elections and supposedly have governments that are now our allies. There is no country, at present, that this country is currently at war with yet they claim to be using some kind of "war powers" authorization. So I ask again. Who are we at war with? |

| Johnny, this Presidunt is at ar with reality and common sense. He will not allow the forces of truth or reason deter him from what he sees as the course God has chosen for the USA. He wants to eat a gorilla, and for every red blooded American male to eat the dead flesh of some large manly critter too. Unless the American Male is gay, or thinking of voting Democrat. But if you're a gay Democrat, and a vegetarian, then they'll force you to eat a whole veal; not just a cutlet, but the whole calf. Live. The way John Wayne would have done it. And Moron, I'm sure you'd like to think of this post as sarcasm, but after the whole London airlines plot thing, with the news coming out that this plan has been known of for 5 years, I now see the importance of Bush's War on Terror; everything must be a secret, until close to election time, and then we must make claims big enough to knock down our Glorious leader's enemies truth and common sense into oblivion... oh wait, more news on Jon Bonet Ramsey's murder investigation: MUST GO WATCH FOX NEWS, WHITE PERSON DEAD, ONLY THING IMPORTANT IN WORLD IS DEAD WHITE GIRL, OOOOOHHHHH! Must go lay down now, the flashing lights hurt my thinker. |

| Phaedrus, where did you read sarcasm into my comments? It's sad that I would entertain such suspicions. It's tragic that I actually believe them to be true.

| While this doesn't fit into the conspiracy theory, it does fit MiC's thoughts on the runup to the next election. In 1994, Jon Kyl, Senator from AZ signed the Gingrich "Contract with America." One of the items in that contract that Kyl supported was "the Citizen Legislature Act" which proposed that term limits be 12 years. It never became law, but it used by republicans as a talking point to boot out the old (democrats) and elect new fresh faces. Hmmm........1994 to 2006. By my liberal math, that would make exactly 12 years. Can someone tell me? Is Jon Kyl running for re-election? Oh, and John Shaddeg, Rep from AZ made the same promise in 1994. In fact, 5 senators, and 35 representative who signed the contract are running again. |

| Now, this little tidbit does fit into the conspiracy theory. Two days after the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the name Mohammad Naeem Noor Khan was leaked to the press. Who was Khan? And who leaked his name to the press? "Khan, dubbed a "computer geek" on account of his technical prowess, functioned as a one-man information hub for Al Qaeda, coordinating and forwarding messages between the top leadership and Bin Laden's foot-soldiers worldwide. Once captured, Khan "flipped" and agreed to cooperate. CIA interrogators had him sending emails to his former confederates all day Sunday and Monday of last week, and getting back encrypted replies. On Monday morning, however, the Times came out with its story, naming Khan and reporting his disclosures as the real basis of the code orange security alerts issued by Homeland Security czar Tom Ridge. The Times cited both Pakistani and U.S. government officials." "[CNN's Wolf] Blitzer then revealed that he had discussed the Khan case with U.S. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice on background. He reported that she had admitted that the Bush administration had in fact revealed Khan's name to the press. She said she did not know if Khan was a double agent working for the Pakistani government." [link:www.antiwar.com] August 9, 2004 Are the Bushies traitors, evil, incompetent, or all of the above? Are they willing to sacrifice American lives to maintain power? It breaks my heart that I believe the answer to all the above is YES. What a sad state of affairs when I have to believe that my President and his administration are capable of such things. |

| Yep Indie, when facing losing the 04 elections the Bushies had to stage many code red terror alerts and put out the identity of Mr. Khan undermining our efforts to catch terrorists. All in order to further their control of power.
