...for all good Americans to launch the revolution. With the mounting criminal activity unfolding in the Bush administration, the Democratic non-response, and the general apathy of the "American Idol" public, it may be left up to those of us who care about what is happening in this country to mount a strategy to literally take it back.
Such a busy day on Capitol Hill. Bush's revelations about his imaginary war on terror, the Democrats raising the white flag on the Irag war funding bill and Monica Goodling testifying before the House Judiciary Committee; are we to believe the convergence of these three events on the same day is some sort of otherworldly coincidence? The Bush "bombshell" on terror is no surprise. Typical Rovian strategy to deflect attention from damning news and knock it off the front pages. The MSM laps it up like manna from heaven. But the Democratic leadership choosing today to cave on the emergency spending bill? It is seeming more and more to me that the Democratic party is just the other arm of the same monster. Manipulate, deflect, lie, obfuscate and make promises. Perhaps the Democrats have finally wised up and taken a page from the Republican playbook? It's becoming so patently apparent the the goal of this political jockeying is nothing more than getting and keeping power. So if Thom Hartmann is correct, that the Dems have chosen the strategy of allowing more Americans to die in Iraq to gain political advantage in 2008, what is the difference between what they are doing and what the Rove machine has done all along? I believe that those who have placed their hope for the future of this country in the hands of the Democrats are being led like sheep to the slaughter.
The politics of America need to be wrenched back out of the hands of the ruling class and returned to "we the people".
The time may be at hand...

| Beth, please refer to my comment of AA's latest article, because it pertains to what you have written here. You are not alone in your anger or frustration. So tell me, are you going to take off work tomorrow and march down to the State House with your gun? Are you going to lead the way, or follow right behind one of us? I know, you have had it up to here and are calling for a revolution, but until you actual translate your words into actions, exactly how are you different from those gutless Democrats in Washington? Instead of calling for revolutions and coup d'etat, how about calling your Representatives and Senators over this long Memorial Day weekend and tell them they should rethink their course of action and not appease this playground bully once again; and not to worry because if they do stand their ground, you will be there in 2008 to vote for them again. Better yet, leave the guns at home, make up some signs, and march in front of their offices to tell them in person what you think they should be doing to represent you. Either that or vote for Ron Paul . . . and then get ready for four more years of McCain/Lieberman or Guilliani/Kerick. |

| Those "gutless Democrats in Washington" were elected to do 2 things. Reform Congress and end the Iraq debacle. They have done neither. And, lest you or anyone else forget it, they were put in the majority because independents and some Republicans voted for them because they believed the Dems were serious. Who is the bigger criminal? The man beating the old lady, or the bystander who handed him the baton? And does it matter? The old lady is mortally wounded or dead and both parties have blood on their hands. Marching in front of their offices? Making calls? They haven't listened yet and it sure doesn't look like they intend too. Remember the elections took place just last November. As much as it pains me to say it, Tom Carter was right. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." The fear is that Bush is going to start a war with Iran. Have the Dems done anything to prevent that? No. And when that war starts, the gutless Dems will line up behind Bush, wearing little flags on their lapels sniffing at his ass. To do otherwise might jeopardize their cushy little Washington jobs. We are screwed. |

| O.K. then. They have been in control of the House for four months, they have had tenuous control of the Senate, and they face a President who suddenly learned the veto pen has ink. They have yet to end the war or fix our problems at home. Time to go polish your gun Indie. I don't see any other way!!! |

| MIC, my point is that the debate needs to seriously begin. We no longer have a representative government. The Bush administration has NEVER listened to the wants of the American people, the Republicans just do whatever the hell Bush does, and now we have the Democrats with a VERY CLEAR MANDATE, ignoring the will of the people as well. So we are told we need to call our congressmen and women and give 'em hell. For what? It's an exercise in futility. I honestly don't know what it takes to start a revolt, but I'll tell you one thing for certain - if there is anything I can do to advance the idea I will, and if one is actually launched, I'll be right up front with my torch and anger. I see no other way to take back this country from special interests, corporations and a feckless media. |

| Sigh...........I predicted several days ago that this congress would cave in and become toothless and guess what? Which troops are they supporting by allowing this bloodthirsty administration to get away without troop withdrawals? Call my congressman? Which one, Renzi, Kyle, or McCain? That is just an excercise in futility because we all know where those three are going to vote no matter what their constituents say. This congress drew a line in the sand and Bush peed all over it and laughed in their faces. And now their caving in with excuses of not wanting to withhold funding for the troops. If they had any cajones they would stand the line and make Bush either fish or cut bait. Make him to take the money out of all the money he's pouring into private contracting for the troops. They could have salvaged their political positions and still stood tall but instead they did as they've always done and folded their tents and walked away with their tale between their legs. "There is no joy in Mudville for Mighty Casey just struck out." I'f I hadn't quit booze I'd go out and get drunk because there is no end to this carnage in site and my grand children are going to pay and I sincerely hope it is not just finances but with their lives or limbs. I for one am sick to death of this puny no conscience government. |

| Beth, There are 300 million people in this country, and our representatives probably have heard from several thousand of us on this issue. Do you really think they hear you now, bitching here at this website about how they are ignoring the will of the PEOPLE? You need to call them, you need to write them, and you need to see them in person because that's how representative democracy works. If we were all properly informed and engaged, I can assure you that your representatives will be representing YOU. But as it is, 999 out of 1000 of us are entirely silent. We get what we pay for. If your response now is to throw up your hands, you do not have the right to complain. If ten people around you are not shouting, then you will have to shout ten times louder. I'll give up and join the revolution when all other options are exhausted. We aren't even close to that. We haven't even scratched the surface yet. So do you want to throw in the towel and say "f*** it," or do you want to become more of an activist than ever? You say you want a revolution? Well, we would all love to hear your plan. | Who said anything about throwing up my hands?! I am extremely active in the political process - I call or write my representative at the very least once a week. You know what it gets me? Absolutely nothing. Not even a confirmation that they have received my email/fax/letter. Squat. I show up at all the demonstrations and rallies, sign in hand. I give money to worthy causes. I for one am sick and tired of bending over for these charlatans. Do I think that any of my "representatives" are trolling around this little bitch forum? Give me a f*cking break. I post here becuase I am frustrated, outraged and looking for answers. If anything is ever to change with the business as usual government we have, it will begin at the grassroots level - like this forum. So what other options do you suggest we exhaust? My anger on this issue is specifically because I DO NOT think we have a representative government anymore and your answer is to contact my representatives? I appreciate the gesture of the link to Working Assets, but frankly that kind of "form email" never even makes it past the spam filters on Capitol Hill. I swear my head is going to explode.

| Hey Mr MIC, I ready to march;the only sad thing I see are that won't becaUSE HE HAS NO CONVICTION, Carter can't because he is a lame duck like George, and a lot of people bitch and do absolutely nothing. Illegal can get hundred of thousand marching for their cause and we be lucky to get a hundred. For all you historym check out the demonstrations for the Vietnam War. What a different;lets face it, Americans have apathy when it comes to putting things on the line. My best example:AA doesn't like McCain but he didn't put his name on the line. Could that be contrued as a coward? I know Carter is. |
