Why America needs to elect Sen. Obama.

The short answer on why Obama is this:

Democrats believe that government power should be used to do the essential jobs of governing, which is

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,

• establish Justice,
• insure domestic Tranquility,
• provide for the common defense,
• promote the general Welfare,
• and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Without these things, we've lost one US city, had the worst terrorist attack in world history, watched big businesses ship our jobs overseas, allowed Wall Street Bankers  to steal our homes and wealth, and given away our liberty in exchange for the illusion of safety.

These ideas have been neglected for 8 years, by a ruling cabal who only wants to look out for themselves, and their cronies, enrich their own families from the federal treasury, and occupy the Middle East oil fields.

After 8 years of conservative reign, we've privatized every thing from Gulf coast rebuilding to having mercenaries doing essential services in Iraq and Columbia, and turned the DOJ into a Third World Junta style politcal hatchet crew, while turning the job of governance over to the President's and VP's cronies at Enron, and Halliburton.

The USA doesn't need to privatize the rebuilding of the Mississippi Gulf coast and NOLA to Republican connected private contractors who over charge and do shoddy work.

The USA should not be funding mercenary armies who act with no legal authority, and commit rapes and murders in our name on our dime.

The USA should not have a Justice system where rich Repuiblican lawmakers can use their office for personal enrichment, in exchange for our national resources or our federal treasuries monies.

Sen. Obama needs to be the next president in order to undo the damage done by conservatives to our government and way of life, to put America back to work with jobs here, and stop exporting our future and economy to the lowest bidder.

• McCain has already said "I regret to inform you, there will be more wars." What about ending the FUBAR ones we're stuck in now? Or will his wife pay off the $2-3 tril the Iraq one will cost us.
• More tax cuts for the wealthy, shifting more of the tax burden to the middle class, and more deficits, shifting more tax burden to tomorrow's taxpayers? Been there, done that. Will Cindy bust out with her checkbook, and payoff the $3.5 tril in extra debt Emperor s***forbrains and her hubby have saddled us with for the last 8 years?

• That the DNC's convention has a fancy, column looking White House-y thing going on.
• That Sen. Obama hasn't been a fixture inside Washington for decades like McBush, and doesn't have a long list of things that he's done in Washington.

• Community organizer
• education reform advocate
• Government ethics proponent, including passing the toughest govt ethics in Illinois history (which is no small task) and the toughest ever govt ethics rules for the US congress.
• Reforming immigration, which Tom Tancredo, his Republikkkan talk show hosts, and their minions killed in the House.

In 1999, on a vote in the Illinois senate on whether to try teenage gangbangers as adults, when they fire a gun on or near school grounds, Obama voted "present" - the functional equivalent of "NO"!

In 2001, when Illinois lawmakers tried to control rampant gang violence by making gang members eligible for the death penalty when they commit murder to help their gang, Obama voted against the measure.

In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. That same year a similar federal law, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, was signed by President Bush. Only 15 members of the U.S. House opposed it, and it passed the Senate unanimously on a voice vote.

Both the Illinois and the federal bill sought equal treatment for babies who survived premature inducement for the purpose of abortion and wanted babies who were born prematurely and given live-saving medical attention.

When the federal bill was being debated, NARAL Pro-Choice America released a statement that said, “Consistent with our position last year, NARAL does not oppose passage of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act ... floor debate served to clarify the bill’s intent and assure us that it is not targeted at Roe v. Wade or a woman’s right to choose.”

But he sure knows how to get a great real estate deal.

A few months after Obama became a U.S. senator, he and Rezko's wife, Rita, bought adjacent pieces of property from a doctor in Chicago's Kenwood neighborhood -- a deal that has dogged Obama the last two years. The doctor sold the mansion to Obama for $1.65 million -- $300,000 below the asking price. Rezko's wife paid full price -- $625,000 -- for the adjacent vacant lot. The deals closed in June 2005. Six months later, Obama paid Rezko's wife $104,500 for a strip of her land, so he could have a bigger yard. At the time, it had been widely reported that Tony Rezko was under federal investigation. Questioned later about the timing of the Rezko deal, Obama called it "boneheaded" because people might think the Rezkos had done him a favor.
