EXCERPT: It's decision time Mr. Edwards. You've held out on us long enough. You've seen how the chips are stacked, who has the advantage and you can see how this is going to play out. Set down the glass of lemonade, roll out of the hammock, tell Elizabeth you don't want any more brownies and endorse Barack Obama already.
Obama has put together a ten-game winning streak in the middle of pressure packed pennant race. As his victory speech from Houston indicated, he is focused on the postseason...

EXCERPT: The fierce anti-American leader of the quasi- national Iraqi Shiite military force, Muqtada Al-Sadr has threatened not to renew a cease fire agreement set to expire Saturday.
The extremely aggressive Mahdi Army has the potential to send Baghdad back into complete disarray. Al-Sadr has the power to mobilize and inspire throngs of islamofascists/freedom fighters to wreak havoc on the progress the US surge has made.
I am not a supporter of this war - American lives lost in Iraq: 3,965...

EXCERPT: The Rebellious Cuban Dictator has finally stepped down from his post as ultimate ruler of the tiny island of Cuba. Fidel Castro cited health concerns - in 2006 he underwent emergency surgery for a colon infection - as the main reason for his resignation. He says he will not return as a leader but will still be in the fight as a "soldier of ideas."
Americans can rejoice, Carnival Cruise line just added another stop on its tour of the Bahamas. Before we know it Havana will be...

EXCERPT: Russia is tired of sitting on the bench. Mistakes by the US in the global struggle/war for energy resources has provided a great opportunity for the once-proud nation to get back into the game.
In terms of geopolitical strategy the US showed their hand way too early. Bush and the neocon oil barrons that run our foreign policy based their entire game plan on conquering Iraq and syphoning off their oil directly into our SUV's.
This strategy worked in the short term - oil companies have...

EXCERPT: If only Henry Ford invented an assembly line that produced vehicles to run on opium, Afghanistan would get a little more attention from the US military.
The recent suicide bombings put the jayvee occupation back in the news. A sad admission is that I hadn't been giving the country much thought lately.
It's not like they have anything else that would be of interest to the US government or American citizens for that matter.
If recent intel is true - and how can we dumb citizens know if...

EXCERPT: A senior Iraqi security official said he doesn't support a "pause" in the progression of troop withdrawals to analyze progress made form the surge.
I know the Dem's have said they would withdraw troops as fast as possible from Iraq but that premise may be shortsighted. The Iraqi official, named Mowaffaq al-Rubaie, says he hears the pledges but does not think it will actually happen.
Said Rubaie "When they are in the oval office, they will think twice and they will...

EXCERPT: The Pentagon is seeking the death penalty for six men accused of conspiring to commit the 9/11 attacks. Thanks to the Dept of Defense the guys without the guts to seek martyrdom the first time around may get to meet the 79 virgins after all.
The plan is to execute them at Guantanamo Bay, a loophole created by Bush two years ago allows the Army to execute on int'l territory. That'll go over well with world public opinion.
I am not a pacifist by any means, but executing Prisoners of...

EXCERPT: Shows over folks. Obama put a dagger in the HRC campaign in the Potomac Primary by winning everything. Sweeping all three states for an eight-state win streak. The white vote, the Latino vote, the Woman vote, all the former "democratic bases" that were keeping the HRC campaign breathing went to Obama.
The "Next Kennedy" has arrived and he is taking down the fabled Clinton Political Machine on his way to the top. Old Man River, er, John McCain doesn't stand a...

EXCERPT: General Motors has offered all of its U.S. hourly rate employees, all 74,000 of them, a buyout plan. If employees sever ties completely with the company, no pension, no health benefits, they could be paid a $140,000 lump sum. The article at CNNMoney.com said that 46,000 of the employees are eligible for retirement right now and will be given pension incentives to do so. Two things come to mind when reading this. First, there are only 74,000 hourly workers left at GM? The once proud...

EXCERPT: Prison guards in Florida tried their best to act like Major League Baseball players did in the 1990's. Too bad the guards didn't know to stop the orgies, steroid dealing, and in-game softball promotions when a new commish/prison secretary came to town, now most of them are joining the inmates they once lorded over.
If only Bud Selig had been replaced by a straight shooting, former drug czar like James McDonough MLB wouldn't still be hashing out the steroid scandal....
