Troopergate's become a political cliffhanger!McCain_Elephant_Trust_200x200

Sarah Palin's political skin is riding on today's Alaska Supreme Court ruling about the constitutionality of the Alaska Legislature's ethics investigation - and, by extension, so is John McCain's.

Should the Supreme's block the investigation on the day before the investigator's report is due, everyone's home free - free to continue their desperate, meandering smear campaign in an attempt to salvage a freefalling GOP ticket.

However, should the Court rule the investigation is indeed part and parcel of Alaska's constitutionally-established checks and balances, the political skin game will continue until tomorrow.

This's certainly become a Washington-style legal circus!

A bipartisan investigation, with Sarah's blessing, morphed into a "political hitjob" once Sarah was placed on the GOP ticket and the McCain Truth Squad dispatched in Alaska.

Sarah's cooperation evaporated, subpoenas were ignored, a secretive alternative investigation by gubernetorial appointees was launched and the constitutionality of the Legislature's probe was questioned.

That has presented us with the spectable of the Boston Herald quoting a McCain spokeswoman quoting Sarah's hubby (who's now under court order to answer his subpoena):

Meg Stapleton, a local spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, said Todd Palin is answering Branchflower’s questions but isn’t hopeful of a fair outcome.

"Todd certainly wants to make sure that everyone knows he has nothing to hide," she said. "But Todd and the governor both feel the outcome was predetermined and prejudged back when the governor was named a vice presidential candidate."

HUNH?

Look, Ms Stapleton, you already have a candidate at the top of the ticket who's been reprimanded for ethics violations - so what's the problem here?

Think of it as symmetry, you bet'cha - a Republican ticket bookended with the political skins of ethics violators!

Now, let's talk some more about Bill Ayers, hunh?
