When we brought the refugees from Salvador, we did not do background check on then. Thus we have a major crime sydicate in American know as the MS13. I hope that is right and because of this, we have a major terrorist group in our country. Now they(the government) want to bring in 21000 Iraqis into our country without background check. I am assuming that this with be another terrorist cell in my country. I forgot the other terrorist group from Cuba(the first boat people who Castro release from prison. Now to put this in perspective, the only people you are worried about are the twelve million illegal who the majority of them just want to work and send money back home for their family. Which are more important to get rid of: the illegal or the gangs of terror?

| William, I am truely impressed by this article. You were clear and on topic from start to finish. This is very kind of discourse MIC is talkign about when he praises you for being involved. TO the topic. I agree to an extent with you William. When we allow others to come to our shores it must be done with a back ground check period. Regardless of nation of origin, we need to know who is coming and why. I have a friend from Haiti who is here as a politcal refugee. ?His mother, father and a few older siblings were murdered by the government for standing against their tyranny down there so he escaped here. A few siblings made it to France and yet another to Canada. The other have citizenship in those countries now, yet three years latter my friend can not even get a Visa here, he is simply listed as under protection of the U.S. Government. Do you know why he has not been granted citizenship yet? Our government is still conducting the back ground check on his familys murder. I applaud them for allowing him to come here to be safe and that they let him work (I have met few who could out work this guy) and he is doing everything by the book. And I applaud them for verifing his story which is important to know if he's here for some sinister purpose. I do however have a problem with how long it is taking, and this is just one guy. I suppose the reason for not running the checks on the 21000 Iraqis, the South Americans and other groups is because our government, as it has showed us so many times, is incapable of performing this task. So until it can I vote we say no to anyone wanting to come here from Iraq until we can verify who the hell they are. Again William, Good Job. |

| William, The difference between the Muriel boat-people and Iraqi refugees is that the Muriel immigrants were in large part criminals that populated Castro's jails. The Iraqi refugees, rather than being preselected for criminality, are probably just the opposite: they are the wealthy and upper middle class Iraqis displaced by a war that we brought to them. I don't mean to equate poverty with criminality, as is the connection with a wannabe Scarface, but I doubt that an Iraqi lawyer comes here with the intent of joining a crime syndicate. We should, of course, do background checks on all immigrants -- borders should be permeable but not porous. But we have more than enough obligation to throw our doors open to Iraqi refugees. I leave you with the wise words of George W. Bush: Poor people aren't necessarily killers. |

| Don't forget about a massive border to the north that is easy to get over. Growing up on the Great Lakes, you don't know half the time which country you are in. On top of that, it is extremely easy to island hop into the U.S.! We need to be careful of identifying people as terrorists just because they come from a certain place. I agree with those that we have to have background checks done, but I agree with AA in that I don't have the confidence in our own government to do it in a timely basis. Tom is also right...those that are "friends" of the government are going to get preferential treatment. |

| I guess I need to bring this up because you all seem to think that you don't. It might get someone you know to get killed. But according to someone who mocks me, he think this article is funny but that show his true character. I can't write it but this person knows what I mean. What goes around come around/ Beware.

look "William", it seems you fear the wrong things too. It seems you also have given in to the terrorist mantra. You are exactly the kind of person I speak of when I wonder when Americans will turn on each other.
Yes "William" there is an illegal immigration problem in this country, and we must get a grip on it. These people (how many illegal aliens there are, who they are, and how they got here is not important to this response) are a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. As you see in our own state, when the legislature passes laws that deal with the root cause (employers who will hire illegal workers rather than legal ones) the employers, lobbists and lawyers take over the media and use the "race card" to change the conversation into an emotional one, just as the people who want to dehumanise the illegal alien do. In other words, we want the benefit of having a ready, exploitable and expendible human human corral of dehumanized people, so we can do what we will to them, blame on them anything, without regard to them and their benefit. We do not want to really deal with the problem of illegal immigration honestly, frankly, and humanely.

Again, you do not want to deal with the terrorists. You want them all to be recognisable on sight so you can first avoid them, then vilify them, dehumanise them, and finally destroy them. In other words, instead of dealing with your own fears and overcoming them interally, you want to blame someone else. What next with your kind...armbands for people you fear? Perhaps "ghettos"? Maybe just pack them in cattle cars and ship them off to death camps. Would you like that...sure you would, as long as the people who go don't look like you.
