there is all this talk about how the city of Phoenix is one of the fastest growing metros  in the nation. but through my five years living here there is one thing i need to say. There is a extreme lack of culture here. The city needs to add some cultural institutions to make it more of a tourist haven. first of all they need a real museum of modern art. The one in Scottsdale just does not cut it. Secondly,  they could add a museum called the Historical Society of Motion Pictures, it would be a museum that would celebrate the history of independent film. And on top of that the city could encourage the establishment of comedy clubs, arthouse movie thatres and more art galleries. all of the things i mentioned would create more of a buzz for the state capitol and add energy to a city that is otherwise permenantly on snooze. A few other ideas i came up with were an Arborterium, A tropical bird house, a carousel in one of the parks. The point is the city has a lot of work to do and an opportunity to really put its best foot forward.
