Auston Johnson

State Auditor since July 1995, Auston was re-elected for a four-year term starting January 1, 2005. He has been with the State Auditor's Office since 1976.
Auston is a member of the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants and was named Outstanding CPA in Business and Management in 2002. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants where he served on the Auditing Standards Board.
Prior to serving on the ASB, Auston was a member of the task force that wrote the AICPA's State and Local Government Audit and Accounting Guide. He has also served in an advisory role to the Comptroller General of the United States in establishing Government Audit Standards.
Auston is active in the National State Auditor's Association and served as President from January 2005 to June 2006. Since 1994, he has been a member of the School of Accountancy Advisory Council at Utah State University.
Auston is a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973. He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in accounting from Utah State University.
